ClearPlay Noted As Top Parental Control Product

ClearPlay, the only edited movie service specifically shielded by the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005, was recently recognized by Top Ten Reviews for having the highest rated product in the movie and TV filtering category.

“ClearPlay is an excellent movie filtering product and service,” noted Top Ten Reviews. And after evaluating usability, the review noted that “the ClearPlay DVD Player is easy to set up and downloading movie filters from the ClearPlay website is a breeze.”

“It’s always gratifying to be recognized,” said Lee Jarman, ClearPlay CFO. “Top Ten Reviews is highly respected for the comprehensive nature of their evaluations and the integrity of their approach. We greatly appreciate receiving their best of class Gold Award.”

This is a great idea! Kudos for working to make it work. I have seen many edited movies from various editor and found ClearPlay a bit skippy. I think a true edited film from some suppliers make for a better experience.

I am trying to sell a few of my edited movies. they work fine, and were originally purchased from clean films and a friend from Utah. I have 33 titles for sale and if anyone is interested in them, or wants more info, just email me marc_gutierrez@hotmail.com

  5. Ron Says:

Hey Marcos. Don’t know if you sold your movies yet but if not could you give me a list and asking price.
I’m the pastor of Second Touch Fellowship (secondtouchfellowship.org) and we would like to host a movie night for our fellowship.

A couple years ago one of my roommates had one and the movie jumped in places and sometimes all the audio dropped. Have they improved from that? I’ve held off hoping their technology would improve.

  10. JB Says:

I’m not sure what you mean by jumping but I’ve never heard the audio completely drop. Usually just the word is blanked out. For example someone might say “You B**t**d! and then with clearplay it might be “You…..!” Like they would just bleep out the word. I hope that helps. They have videos giving demonstrations of the technology. I would suggest watching the news demonstrations that they have on there because the ones they made specifically for the site are not very good.

  11. Jessica Says:

Actually, the entire audio is MUTED during the vulgar language. So although you don’t “hear” the vulgar words, you can still “see” their lips moving and know exactly what the vulgar word was that they removed. Clearplay does horrible “skipping” over bad content. Not only that, but ClearPlay misses swear words here and there. They are not a very reliable system. Personally, since the edited movie companies have all shutdown, and since clearplay filtering is horrible, I have stopped watching movies altogether (buying and renting). I’m not going to support that hollywood trash any longer!

  12. JB Says:

I don’t understand if clearplay is so horrible and your banning hollywood movies then why are you posting? I have seen many of you talk about how you can read the lips of the characters when they are swearing. How many people can actually read lips? I know I can’t neither can anyone in my family that I’m aware of. I own several movies in which I use clearplay and it doesn’t cut the whole phrase all the time. It only does that once or twice in some movies. It rarely ever misses a swear word I can only think of maybe 2 movies in which there was a swear word missed and I’m sure that if you e-mailed clearplay and said that they would re-filter the movie. I haven’t done that myself but I plan to. The point is that the edited movie rental business is gone and yes clearplay isn’t as good as Clean Flicks was but, aside from buying the edited movie from good movies online and not being able to try them out, Clearplay is a good compromise. I can still watch my movies cleaned up but Hollywood is happy so I don’t have to worry about it being shut down.

Well, I haven’t seen the current performace of a clearplay player, so I don’t know if what’s being described is still the same thing I saw before. I’ll have to find someone else that owns a “newer model” and see. They’re too expensive to just “try out.” I went to the Clearplay website. I have to pay $70-80 for their player, $8 for a month of service, and $4 to rent a video I want to watch. That’s $80+ just to try them out! If I like the movie, I then have to go out spend another $20 to get it, and forever pay at least $8 a month to justify owning the movie. With that kind of financial commitment, I think I’ll go with the least expensive option first and spend the $20 for one at goodmoviesonline.com. I’ll post a comment under them about how it goes.
