ClearPlay
ClearPlay is a leader in clean movie entertainment. ClearPlay distinguishes itself from all of the other companies on this website by its revolutionary editing technology. Instead of watching copies of DVDs which have been physically edited, ClearPlay provides families with a DVD player which can load filters for individual movies. This means that a ClearPlay DVD player can play all of the existing movies you own, only without the offensive scenes!
Customers of ClearPlay purchase a Clearplay-enabled DVD player ($80-85) along with a ClearPlay filter subscription ($8/month or $79/yr). Customers are then able to load filters into the player by use of a USB thumb drive or connected phone line for the desired movie. Users are even allowed to configure the filter to edit out specific content, such as nudity, language, violence, etc. This allows parents and users a customizable level of censorship unavailable from any other service.
The ClearPlay DVD players work just like any other DVD player, so all your existing movies will play, with or without a filter. Some Clearplay-enabled DVD players come pre-loaded with up to 1,000 filters, accessible immediately without a subscription. Individual filters may also be purchased for $2.95 each.
As mentioned above, each filter can be customized each time you watch a movie based on your preferences. When loading a filter, an options screen is presented with four different categories of content. Each item in each category, 14 items in total, can be turned on and off easily. The items presented are:
| Violence Filters | Sex and Nudity Filters | Language Filters | Other Filters |
| Strong Action Violence | Sensual Content | Vain Reference to Deity | Explicit Drug Use |
| Gory / Brutal Violence | Crude Sexual Content | Crude Language and Humor | |
| Disturbing Images | Nudity | Ethnic and Social Slurs | |
| Explicit Sexual Situations | Cursing | ||
| Strong Profanity | |||
| Graphic Vulgarity |
Best of all, ClearPlay was legally shielded by the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005, providing an affirmative right to the filtering service. ClearPlay was the only service specifically shielded by this piece of legislation.
